Why Does This Blog Exist?

“To practice any art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow. So do it.” — Kurt Vonnegut

To answer the question stated in the title above — to stroke my ego. I guess it’s that simple. Why do any of us share our opinions, really? It’s that need to share and express ourselves. To have someone agree with us and validate our opinions. At the very best, it’s exposing some poor ignorant fool to his folly and then piling on. Kidding … mostly.

I plan to write about things that interest me. Then I take them out of my brain and put it on the Internet. I imagine a great deal of my contributions will be based on writing. I’m a wannabe author, and it seems the thing to do. You know, share our thoughts we gathered from others and look smart to people in the process.

I’m particularly interested in that initial phase of writing and outlining. By outlining, I mean both actual outlining and, oddly enough, not outlining. Odd, when you think about it. If you’re a discovery writing, it’s still referred to as “how you outline.”

I will be writing about other topics as well. As a web developer, I have stuff to say on that. I’ll keep that to a minimum since who really cares about that. But when the itch strikes, I’m going to scratch.

I’ll also be writing about Artificial Intelligence. I have a lot to say there. I use it every day for all sorts of things: searching for and analyzing subjects of interest, coding, RPG system design, and lots more.

So, enough said. I’m just a widower with four kids who’s looking to transition out of tech into the amazing world of story telling. Please be kind, because I’m going to try real hard to be nice too. So … don’t piss me off.
